National Doctors’ Day: Celebrating Our Heroic Physicians

As we celebrate National Doctors’ Day today, we thank all the incredible physicians across the Steward network who work tirelessly every day to bring high-quality, compassionate care to the communities we are lucky to serve.

Doctors have faced unimaginable challenges over the past two years on both a personal and professional level, from the physical risks posed by COVID to the mental toll from long hours of work to the loss of loved ones, friends and colleagues. But time and again, our doctors have stepped up to serve, often at great personal risk. When our communities, which were often the hardest hit by the pandemic, turned to us to keep them and their loved ones safe, our doctors and their colleagues delivered. Their extraordinary sacrifices and efforts have touched – and indeed, saved – so many lives.

As the nation’s largest physician-led hospital network, we pride ourselves on providing the kind of unparalleled, value-based care that only those with first-hand health care experience can. At a time when hospitals were being tested and health disparities were spotlighted like never before, our doctors allowed Steward to take an all-hands-on-deck approach to care during the pandemic. We were able to leverage our size and the clinical expertise to respond to the crisis while also doubling down on the traditional hospital services and ensuring regular care for patients was uninterrupted.

Thanks to their work during the pandemic and beyond, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recognized in awarding Steward a 100% quality rating last year.

From the bilingual doctors ensuring Latino patients in Houston can communicate about their health care in their native language to the doctors in Boston collecting supplies for victims of the war in Ukraine, Steward doctors are redefining what’s possible when it comes to bringing compassionate, community-based care.

Today and every day, we are thankful for and take pride in the immense contributions of our over 5,000 doctors nationwide and know they will continue to touch the lives of so many for years to come.

Happy National Doctors’ Day – thank you for all you do.
