Matt Baron
RN, Intensive Care Unit
Sergeant Utah Army National Guard, Combat
My name is Matt Baron, I spent eight years in the Utah Army National Guard where I was deployed a total of three times. My Last Deployment was a total of 18 months in Ramadi, Iraq. My roles as a soldier included patrolling the nearby city, FAB security, and field artillery. I was also tasked with flying a UAV called “the Raven” to look for insurgents planting IED’s or bombs. During my tours of duty, I was lucky to have close friends who became like family to me. When times got tough, I knew I always had support and help from my military family. Similar to Iraq, the hospital can be a stressful environment where you and your coworkers are tested with difficult situations. I am grateful for the relationships that I have developed here at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. Like the National Guard I know, I have family here that gets me through those tough days. Thank you to all those who served in our Armed Forces.
